About & Our Goal

Hello! My name is Jamie, born and raised on Cape Cod. I’ve helped build and plumb many vinyl liner and fiberglass pools around Cape Cod and the South Shore. Since 2005, I’ve gained 20 years of experience as a hot tub service technician for various local companies before starting Plymouth Hot Tub Service in 2011.

Like many first-time business owners, I had a lot to learn but worked hard to meet and exceed customer expectations at fair prices. In 2017, I returned to work for another local company to help them meet growing demand and also to better balance my time with increasing family responsibilities and find a more manageable pace. I helped manage their service department while also acting as lead service technician and installing a number of fiberglass swimming pools. At the same time, I did my best to continue assisting my own customers after hours and on weekends. As the customer base grew and finding help became increasingly difficult, this arrangement became unmanageable, and I had to advise many of my own valued customers to seek assistance elsewhere for their hot tub needs.

Now, with Cape Hot Tub Service, I’m focusing on serving Cape Codders and residents of Plymouth with honest, thorough, and dependable service. My goal is to build lasting relationships with customers who appreciate hard work, attention to detail, and extensive industry experience.

I greatly appreciate customers who plan ahead and exhibit patience and flexibility, and I aim to be transparent about what I can provide.

If you’re a hot tub owner on Cape Cod or Plymouth seeking reliable care, I’m here to help. While I may not always meet immediate urgent demands, I prioritize clear communication and quality results.

Thank you for considering Cape Hot Tub Service. I look forward to working with those who value quality and personal attention.

Services

At Cape Hot Tub Service, I offer comprehensive hot tub repairs, maintenance, spring start-ups, water changes, winterizations, and cleaning services throughout Cape Cod and Plymouth. With 20 years of industry experience, I specialize in working on most hot tub makes and models, especially those with Jacuzzi/Sundance, Balboa, Gecko, and Hydroquip systems. Please feel free to inquire about any brand or issue.

I generally steer clear of Watkins/HotSpring brands as well as Arctic Spas, but depending on my availability, your specific situation, deadline, and budget, those aren’t necessarily out of the question.

My focus is on delivering thorough, efficient repairs and maintenance that extend the life of your hot tub and ensure your enjoyment.

Policies & Recommendations

Communication:

I communicate via phone, email, or text messaging. Approving text messages helps me respond faster.

Being a one-person operation, I may not always answer immediately while working in the field. Thanks for your patience!

If Google Maps or Waze have trouble finding your address, please let me know when booking.

Service Calls:

Appointments depend on demand, job type, and schedule.

Jobs are done mostly first-come, first-served, grouped geographically for efficiency.

Fees for Incomplete Service:

If I can’t complete the service due to no running water, no power to the hot tub or subpanel, or no power to an outlet for tools, a No-Water Fee, No-Power Fee, or Service Call Minimum Fee may apply. Payment needed before rescheduling.

Customer Preparation:
Electrical Setup:

Your hot tub must be GFCI protected: For 240V: a GFCI breaker switch is required.

For 110V (“plug and play”): a GFCI power cord or outlet is required (no extension cords).

If your hot tub is wired directly to the main panel without an outdoor subpanel, I’ll need access to it.

Most setups include a breaker on the main panel, and an emergency disconnect or subpanel outside.

One of the two breaker switches should be GFCI protected (identified by a “TEST” button).

If no one is home for service and there is an outdoor disconnect, we’ll discuss power on/off procedures.

Outdoor subpanel accessibility preferred and should meet code.

Additional Preparation:

Please secure pets and unlock gates for access.

Outdoor water should be on (except winterizations); multiple running spigots help speed up service.

A working 110V outlet near the tub is needed for equipment.

Turn on the hot tub breaker at your main panel.

Remove any security straps on the hot tub cover. Locked clips sewn on or screwed to panels are fine.

Keep the path and area clean. As a dog lover who rescues and fosters dogs, I appreciate advance warning about pet “landmines” or hazards.

Requested In-Person Appointments:

If no one is home, I’ll try to contact you. After 15 minutes with no response, I’ll move on.

The $165 service call minimum applies and must be paid before rescheduling.

Winterizations – IMPORTANT:

Customers are responsible for preventing freeze damage.

I do thorough winterizations with extra care but cannot be held liable once done.

Damage may occur if covers aren’t secure, winter caps or tarps aren’t fastened well, straps aren’t used, or water accumulates unchecked.

Water can re-enter tubs via condensation, weather, or old covers trapping moisture.

Covers older than 1-2 years may retain water which (for certain makes/models) could increase the risk of freeze damage.

Broken cover clips will be replaced when available and added to your invoice (any extra/unused pieces from 4-pack of clips will be left onsite or given to you).

In windy areas it is highly recommended that additional straps are installed over top of the cover The combination of wind and rain can result in water getting into the tub – even if the cover doesn’t blow open or off.

If there is no one home to rectify lack of power to hot tub or subpanel, or power to a working outdoor outlet, a No-Power Fee, or Service Call Minimum Fee may apply. Payment needed before rescheduling.

Spring Start-Up’s – IMPORTANT:

Customers are responsible for have their outside water source(s) on at the time of service.

I strongly recommend testing your spigot(s) and confirming that they have been turned on – plumbers are very busy this time of year and scheduled appointments change often. Don’t trust that it got done if you didn’t receive a confirmation from your plumber or property management co.

The more spigots that are on and running, the better. I will always run 2 or maybe 3 hoses to fill the tub as quickly as possible depending on several factors.

Check that there is power going to the outdoor subpanel for the tub (if you comfortably can). No power to the subpanel means that access to the main service panel in your home will be necessary, This could lead to an additional trip – unless someone is home to reset the main breaker at the time of service.

Check that your outdoor 110 volt outlet is working so that I can run any equipment I need to – outdoor outlets and GFCI outlets are notorious for tripping due to moisture, alt in the air, etc. Test your outlet with a hair dryer (or something similar) for good, working power.

If there is no one home to rectify lack of water, power to hot tub or subpanel, or power to a working outdoor outlet, a No-Water Fee, No-Power Fee, or Service Call Minimum Fee may apply. Payment needed before rescheduling.

Payments:

Payment is due upon completion.

Prepayment required for special order parts (non-refundable).

Accepted Payments: Cash, Check, Venmo, PayPal (credit/debit), Cash App, Zelle.

Electronic payment options coming soon.
